Councilor Murphy has been making a number of significant motions in the first few months of the 2010-2012 term. The motions are carefully made, informed by a number of different resources, ways of thinking, and promises made during his campaign.
The new design to this website does not simply mark a change in its appearance, but a new approach to city governance. In making a motion, Councilor Murphy will address here the motivation or motivations that initiated the act. He will provide evidence and cite online resources which are meant to aid residents in their understanding of his positions, and he will describe the intended consequences of his actions as fully as possible.
The “Motions” section of this website will act in a way to present the Councilor’s honest and unfiltered reasoning for a particular policy question or issue. This can only help to make this Council more transparent and inclusive.
